要 旨 |
The paper proposes the following in the minimalist framework: (1) Structural Cases are not simply independent features. Features such as temporal/aspectual/modal features realized on verbal elements are also morphologically realized on nominal elements, and they are referred to as Structural Case in that case. Thus Tense and Nominative Case, for example, are just the two differently realized forms of one and the same feature. (2) Given this feature system along with Chomsky's recent ideas of Agree and Phase, economy considerations explain the feature-driven nature of movement, EPP, and the applicability of Object Shift. |
